Cardiac PET (Positron Emission Tomography) is rapidly emerging as an excellent alternative for myocardial perfusion imaging.  Cardiac PET is used for the detection and monitoring of coronary artery disease. Cardiac PET also extends the scope of conventional myocardial perfusion imaging by allowing physicians to detect early stages of atherosclerosis and microvascular disease.  This is made possible by myocardial flow reserve analysis, which regionally detects changes in myocardial blood flow between rest and stress.

Other benefits of Cardiac PET using Rb82:

92% sensitivity and 81% specificity

Higher special resolution

Attenuation correction

Shorter scan times

Lower radiation
